I am fundraising my way to help Orange Sky positively connect communities!

I am supporting Orange Sky and the friends who rely on their laundry and shower services by raising funds and awareness for homelessness. I am hoping to start conversations with people in my community.

In Australia, 1 in 200 people are experiencing homelessness and I want to raise funds to help those doing it tough.

Monday 25th Nov
A huge thank you to everyone who made this fundraiser a success. Saturday was a great day - plenty of my homemade items went off to new homes, and I got to have some very rewarding conversations about Orange Sky. 
I feel really privileged to have been able to do this, grateful for all the support shown, and very very happy that together we have been able to make a small contribution where it’s needed most.
To our friends who use Orange Sky services, we are glad that we could help in this way.
To the staff and volunteers at Orange Sky, thank you for the work you do to make this service happen. 
Thank you to everyone who was involved in helping me to raise funds. 

Craft Market Tomorrow!

Friday 22nd Nov
Well, the big day is finally here. I have been so busy creating, and I am very excited to lay all my treasures out. We are hoping for a good turn out tomorrow, despite the rain.
There will be 28 stall holders (including me!) with something for everyone - cushions, cards, soaps and candles, woodcraft, cakes and jams, and the ubiquitous BBQ. Oh and Devonshire teas and a raffle.

Our church is small but we all work hard to make this annual event a big success. Come on down to 181 Wardell Street, Enoggera and say hi - I’ll be the one with the Orange Sky signs and a big smile.
Join us between 3pm and 7.30pm, get your Chrissy gifts and have a feed too. We’d love to see you there.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the support for Orange Sky via this fundraising page. I continue to be moved by the generosity of ordinary people, who like me, want to give and help make hard situations less awful. Your support means a lot, not only to me, but to the staff and volunteers of Orange Sky, and most importantly, to the people who rely on the service. You are all legends.

The fundraising is nearly at goal, but I will be keeping on going, because I’m excited to see just how much we can do.

Sharing the love

I’ve been a regular giver to Orange Sky for quite a while now. As someone who has experienced housing instability, I know what a difference having a roof over my head and a front door to lock can make. A comfortable bed, affordable rent, hot water - all these things make me a very privileged person indeed.

One of the things I have learned to do, is to “give out of my abundance”. Because I’m in public housing - my rent is cheap. Because I’m on a pension - I get concessions. Because I have a kitchen, I can cook from scratch and eat cheaply. I see myself as wealthy, lucky, and I want to share that.

Twice a year, the beautiful Anglican community I am part of puts on a craft market. My idea was to have a stall of my handcrafts there and raise money for Orange Sky. Now it has grown a bit bigger, and I’m delighted that people are donating beforehand. This makes me feel so happy.
If you would like to come to our Christmas Craft Market, and come and say hello to me, I would love that.
It’s on Saturday 23rd November, from 3pm -7.30 pm. It’s St John’s Anglican Church, 181 Wardell Street Enoggera. There will be lots of wonderful stalls and nice people to talk to. Please come and say G’day
